Backstage
In today’s digital age, visitors (especially potential business partners) want to get to know the real person behind the service. It’s not about booking services – it’s about connecting with people… so here’s a peek behind the curtain with some personal details and background:
where I'm from and how I got here
Originally I come from the small-town of Harsewinkel, world-famous for being the birthplace of the self-driving Combine Harvester (“Claas”). The next bigger city in this fine area of “Ostwestfalen” is Gütersloh, where I went to school and did a business apprenticeship at “Miele”. After successful graduation and right before the turn of the century I then ended up in Hamburg, right in the heart of the “Schanzenviertel”, that I never really left too far behind ever since…
Nowadays you’ll find me in the triangle of “Schanze”, Eimsbüttel and Northern Altona.
(some) games that shaped my youth
I grew up in the era of the Atari VCS 2600 and coin operated Arcade Machines in Ice Cream Parlors. As a player you were used to having three lives and no option to “revive” or “continue”. Here are some* of the platforms and games that I love(d), roughly in historical order:
*I didn’t want to go overboard with the list and decided to only pick three per platform – not fair, I know…
• Atari 2600: Pitfall, River Raid, Enduro
• Arcade: Donkey Kong, Moon Patrol, Green Beret
• Commodore 64: M.U.L.E. , The Bard’s Tale, Elite …to name a just a few – a great list can be found here
• Amiga 500: Sensible World of Soccer, Ports of Call, Defenders of the Crown
• Sony Playstation: Wipeout, Soul Edge, Medal of Honor
• Sega Dreamcast: Rez, Speed Devils, House of the Dead
• Sony Playstation 2: Tony Hawk’s Underground, Frequency, Gran Turismo 3
…well and from there on I moved into games professionally and things became pretty blurry… so many games, so many platforms, console, mobile, whatever…
various non-gaming info
🧑🧑🧒 Family
I’m living in the beautiful district of Eimsbüttel (see above) together with my wife Stefanie and our son.
🏴☠️ Hobbies
Besides my family and work, there’s not that much room for hobbies left, but I still manage to get my running in (aiming for 100km/month – follow me on Strava) and I, quite obiviously, support the Football Club St. Pauli.
🗺️ Places I’ve been
I’ve crisscrossed Europe by rail three times during my final school years. My university days, personal adventures, and professional journeys have since expanded my travel portfolio. While I’ve extensively explored the Northern Hemisphere (from the sun-soaked coasts of California to the bustling streets of South Korea), I’ve never been south of the Equator. Japan is also still on the top of my bucket list.
📖 Books (non-professional)
Apart from the “classics” like the ”Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” or “Lord of the Rings”, I love the writings of Ben Elton (e.g. “Popcorn” or “High Society”).🎶 Music
I’m a musical Frankenstein’s monster, stitched together from all kinds of genres that, at first sight, don’t seem to go well together. My playlist is a wild rollercoaster ride: Soul, House, Punk, Psychobilly, Rock, Hip-Hop, Ska, Jazz, Turntablism, …
Whether it’s time to thrash, groove, or chill, I’ve got a track for that. My musical buffet is always open, and trust me, there’s a flavor for every mood.
👍🏻 Support
I’d also like to use this opportunity to draw attention to the following charitable organizations and NGOs that I regularly donate to and/or am actually a member of:
